The elves, as some authors sees us.

Terry Brooks: the elves in his books are too much alike humans for me too really think of them as elves. Sure, they have pointy ears and a different language, but they even only live for about 80-90 years! And, their actions aren't always very elvish... So, sorry, but if you want to read about elves, don't read these books.

Katherine Kerr: these elves are really enjoyable to read about. They live for as long as 500-700 years, and are really sympathetic. They are the ones that is mostly like us real elves except from Tolkiens descriptions. The language described here is somewhat different than Tolkiens.

Margaret Weis/Tracy Hickman: here the elves comes from four different worlds, and it is therefore hard to give a good overlook. At Abarrach, they don't even exist, in Arianus they aren't too much visible but portraited as somewhat "superior", in Pryan they are portraited as pretty cold-hearted when it comes to humans and dwarves, at Chelestra they are very nice and "human", and this is the world where I like them most.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien: The only human that(as far as I know) has walked with us elves. We all miss him. His writings are well known all over the world, under the names "The Lord of the Ring", "Silmarillion", "The Book of the Lost Tales" and "Tales form Midgard"(sp?).
